[ARCHIVED] Overnight Closures on Broad Street and North Oak Avenue Begin April 13

The City of Cookeville will begin a scheduled street milling and paving project on sections of Broad Street and North Oak Avenue starting Sunday, April 13. The work will be carried out in two phases—milling and paving—across eight separate overnight street closures.

Vulcan Paving has been contracted to complete the project. Milling operations will take place nightly from Sunday, April 13 to Thursday, April 17. Paving operations will follow from Sunday, April 20 to Thursday, April 24. Each overnight closure will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end by 4 a.m. each morning.

Milling Schedule (Nightly Closures: 6:30 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.)

  • Sunday, April 13: East Broad Street from North Washington Avenue to the East Spring Street connection at South Elm Avenue
  • Monday, April 14: East Broad Street from Fleming Avenue to North Jefferson Avenue
  • Tuesday, April 15: Broad Street from South Cedar Avenue to Fleming Avenue
  • Wednesday, April 16: North Oak Avenue from West 4th Street to West Broad Street

Paving Schedule (Nightly Closures: 6:30 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.)

  • Sunday, April 20: East Broad Street from North Washington Avenue to the East Spring Street connection at South Elm Avenue
  • Monday, April 21: East Broad Street from Fleming Avenue to North Jefferson Avenue
  • Tuesday, April 22: Broad Street from South Cedar Avenue to Fleming Avenue
  • Wednesday, April 23: North Oak Avenue from West 4th Street to West Broad Street

During these overnight closures, traffic on Broad Street should detour via Spring Street. North Oak Avenue drivers are advised to use North Cedar Avenue. Each street closure will be clearly marked with signage and safety cones.

Motorists should use caution in the affected areas and follow all posted detour signs. The City of Cookeville appreciates the patience and support of Cookeville’s residents and visitors throughout these infrastructural improvements.
