[ARCHIVED] Dogwood Park Fountain Temporarily Shutdown for Repairs

fountain

This morning, September 24, park workers discovered approximately three feet of water in the fountain's pump housing. The water leak, caused by a cracked canister filter lid, had submerged two electric pumps. These pumps are vital to the operation of the fountain's main water feature, a large water bowl resting on top of the fountain.

Workers from the Department of Leisure Services and Public Facilities have successfully cleared the water from the pump housing. Unfortunately, the electric pumps must dry overnight before being assessed for damage. Potentially one or both pumps may require replacement.

The City will conduct further assessments tomorrow. If both electric pumps pass inspection, the fountain's bowl will resume operation tomorrow and continue to run as scheduled for the rest of the week.

A replacement lid for the canister filter is on order and should arrive by next Tuesday. Until then, the ground-based water jets will remain turned off.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to resolve this issue. For any questions or concerns, please contact the Department of Leisure Services at 931-520-4386.
