Beginning Monday, Sept. 23, vehicles traveling along East 10th Street should anticipate significant lane shifts in the area between Country Club Road and the apartment entrance of Chelsea Place.
As Phase II of the East 10th Street Widening Project continues, the City’s contractors at Rogers Group plan to shift the traffic pattern and begin work on the middle of the street. On Sept. 23, the westbound lane will shift up to the new northernmost lane of the street. The eastbound lane will remain in its current position. This traffic shift is expected to last for at least two weeks.
Once work is completed in the middle lane, both west and eastbound traffic will be shifted to the two northernmost lanes. Traffic will remain there for the duration of the project. Temporary striping, along with traffic barrels and cones, will be placed to navigate drivers through this final lane-shift.
Drivers should continue to be mindful of temporary traffic stops. At times, workers will need to use one or both lanes to move equipment and other materials to new areas of the work site. Most traffic stops will be mere minutes in length.
