[ARCHIVED] City and County Officials Meet with Senator Blackburn

City and county officials met with Senator Marsha Blackburn at the Leslie Towne Centre yesterday to address key issues. The City's primary focus during this productive meeting was to gain federal support for the removal of the electrical transmission tower located at the intersection of South Jefferson and Neal Street.

The tower's present location is a known pain point for tractor trailers turning at the intersection. They frequently become stuck while turning and cause significant traffic problems. Replacing the transmission tower with a single-pole structure would free up more space for tractor trailers to safely maneuver when turning. It would also open this intersection up for major improvements which the City hopes to implement in the future.

City officials have been working with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to develop a plan and budget for this project for some time. Federal support would help set this project in motion!
