[ARCHIVED] East 10th Street Widening Project Underway

Cookeville City Hall spring 2

The City of Cookeville announced that Phase II of the East 10th Street Widening Project will begin in earnest this week. City officials released the full notice to proceed with the work to the contracted party, Rogers Group, Inc.

The project will expand East 10th Street, between Old Kentucky Road and Fisk Road, into five lanes of traffic. Work is anticipated to cause intermittent lane closures until the project’s completion in November.

Director of Cookeville’s Department of Public Works, Mary Beth Elrod, also reports that occasional street closures can be expected. These street closures will temporarily block all lanes of traffic from traversing the roadway. However, the City will make every attempt to limit these closures to nights and evenings when there is significantly less traffic.

To help residents and commuters navigate the upcoming lane and street closures, the City will provide regular project updates and public notices. Residents can visit the city website at cookeville-tn.gov or follow the City of Cookeville on Facebook to learn more.

City officials ask for patience from residents and commuters over the next few months.
