[ARCHIVED] Registration open for fall pickleball league at Cane Creek Gymnasium

COOKEVILLE – As the weather gets cooler, pickleball will be heating up at Cane Creek Gymnasium.

A fall league for adults is being offered on Tuesdays, Nov. 2-Jan. 18, from 8:30-11 a.m. Participation is $10, and the registration deadline is Oct. 25.

“It’s one of the fastest growing sports in America and one of our most popular programs,” Tyler Johnson, Cookeville Leisure Services athletic coordinator, said.

Participants will play five games every Tuesday with different partners. Gymnasium staff will oversee scorekeeping and coordinate matchups. The top three point-earners will be awarded a 35/30 pass, which allows 35 free visits to Cane Creek Gymnasium.

Pickleball is a paddleball sport for two to four players that combines elements of tennis, ping-pong and badminton. Players use a solid paddle to hit a plastic ball (similar to a whiffle ball) over a net.

“If you’re looking for a sport that’s fun, entertaining and great for exercise, sign up for our pickleball league,” Johnson said.
