Cookeville Strong Memorial Tree Grove Planting Event

19 Trees will be planted in honor of the 19 lives lost during the March Tornado

Date: November, 7th 2020 at 9:00AM

Location: Volunteers will meet at 2200 W. Jackson St, Cookeville TN 38573 (Sportsplex parking lot)

The Nashville Tree Foundation, City of Cookeville, and Tennessee Urban Forestry Council have partnered to organize the planting of a memorial tree grove in honor of the 19 lives lost in Cookeville during the March Tornado. We would like to invite the community to help us in the planting efforts as this grove will serve as a gathering place for survivors and citizens for years to come as we remember the lives lost and embrace the growth of a new season for our city.

Volunteers: We would like to invite the community to join us in the planting of these trees. Volunteers should meet in the Sportsplex parking lot at 2200 W. Jackson St, Cookeville TN 38573 at 9:00am.

  • Volunteers will be outside, so dress accordingly. 
  • Face masks are required to be correctly worn by all participants for the duration of the event.
  • Closed toe shoes are required - work boots are recommended.
  • Bring your own face mask, sunscreen, drinking water, work gloves and a long handled spade or pickaxe if you have one. 
  • A limited number of work gloves and tools are available to borrow. 
  • If you need your volunteer hours validated, please bring a form for our staff to sign at the event. 
  • Restrooms may not be available, so please plan accordingly.
