COOKEVILLE – Music is returning to Dogwood Park.

Cookeville Leisure Services’ Third Thursday in the Park summer concert series starts June 18 at 7:30 p.m. with Kinfolk, a local family band with an eclectic playlist. Admission is free.

“I think folks enjoy Third Thursday concerts because we provide a variety of free music throughout the summer, and the setting of the park in the evening is very nice,” Chad McDonald, Cookeville Leisure Services cultural arts superintendent, said. “There’s nothing quite like listening to good music with your toes in the grass.”

The band includes Stevie Judd on guitar; Lorie Judd, vocals and bass; Chad Judd, vocals and guitar; and Nick Judd, drums. Austin Vitucci of Lexington, Ky., will be joining them for the Third Thursday concert.

“This concert at Dogwood Park is very special to us,” Lorie Judd said. “We are excited to be playing in our hometown for friends, family and the community.”

Seating is limited to maintain social distancing. Marked areas on the performance pavilion lawn and tiered seating area will be six feet apart. Masks are recommended.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Concessions are available.

“You can expect Kinfolk to bring a dynamic range of music that keeps you on your toes, whether it’s your favorite old songs or some you may not have heard yet,” Lorie Judd said. “Kinfolk is sure to keep the good times rolling.”

More Third Thursday concerts are planned for July 16 and Aug. 20 with a different band and musical style featured each month. The series is also made possible by funding from the Cookeville Arts Council.

Dogwood Park is located at 30 E. Broad St. For more information, call 931-528-1313.
