[ARCHIVED] Cookeville Community Band summer concert series concludes Monday at Dogwood Park

Cookeville Community Band plays for an audience at Dogwood Park

COOKEVILLE – All summer long, they’ve filled the Dogwood Performance Pavilion with their large ensemble of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments.

Now, one opportunity remains to see the Cookeville Community Band during its summer season – July 22 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

“Concerts in the park are a great opportunity to experience live music in a beautiful setting,” Chad McDonald, Leisure Services cultural arts superintendent, said. “The Dogwood Pavilion was designed especially for live music, and the Community Band series is a perfect fit for the venue.”

Summer concerts, presented by Cookeville Leisure Services, have taken place every other Monday evening since Memorial Day. Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Concessions are available.

The Cookeville Community Band consists of musicians from throughout the Upper Cumberland who love the American concert band tradition. They include public school band directors, college professors, college and high school students and local musicians, both active and retired.

Following the conclusion of the band’s summer series, three more free concerts are planned for Dogwood Park – Big Band Sound on Aug. 5 and Sept. 2 and Bryan Symphony Orchestra on Sept. 1.

Dogwood Park is located at 30 E. Broad St. For more information about concerts or other Cookeville Leisure Services events, call 931-520-4386.
