Cookeville Leisure Services to Host free fitness event at Cane Creek Rec Center
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — The City of Cookeville Department of Leisure Services will host Fit Frenzy on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Cane Creek Recreation Center, offering residents an opportunity to sample a variety of fitness classes at no cost.
The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and feature rotating class demonstrations every 30 minutes. Participants may move between sessions, meet instructors and experience different fitness styles to help determine which classes best fit their interests and schedules.
Cara Sheets, Leisure Services Recreation Superintendent, said the event is designed to address common barriers that prevent people from trying group fitness classes.
“Many people are interested in joining a class but feel unsure about committing time or money before knowing what works for them,” Sheets said. “Fit Frenzy allows participants to explore different options in a short, approachable format.”
Participants can choose from a list of 20 + classes to sample. Fitness-related door prizes will also be offered throughout the event.
Special Programs Coordinator Jen Webb said the event provides a fun way to learn about all of the classes offered. "Classes are offered in 4 different rooms at the same time and change every 30 minutes giving it the "frenzy" feeling.
It gives people a chance to experience classes firsthand, meet the instructors and ask questions ” Webb said. “Our goal is to help participants find the classes that make them look forward to exercising!”
