City of Cookeville Issues Reminder That Dogs Must Be Leashed in City Parks

Cookeville, Tn. – The City of Cookeville Leisure Services Department is reminding the public that all dogs must be kept on a leash at all times while visiting any City of Cookeville park. This is not only a matter of courtesy and safety, it is also a legal requirement.

Under The City of Cookeville ordinance, dogs must remain leashed while in public spaces, including all city parks. This law is in place to ensure the safety and comfort of all park visitors, protect local wildlife, and promote responsible pet ownership. Even well-trained dogs can behave unpredictably in unfamiliar settings, and keeping pets leashed helps prevent accidents and conflicts.

The Cookeville Police Department is authorized to enforce this ordinance. Violations may result in warnings, fines, or other penalties as provided by law. Park visitors are expected to comply at all times.

The City of Cookeville appreciates the public’s cooperation in helping maintain safe, clean, and welcoming parks for the entire community.
