Daytime street resurfacing begins in Cookeville on Monday, April 28. Vulcan Materials will begin by milling and paving CC Camp Road before moving down the list of streets to be resurfaced.
Vulcan was selected as the contractor for street paving following the City’s annual bidding process. They recently finished the overnight resurfacing of Broad Street and North Oak Avenue and are now ready to move on to daytime milling and paving for the following streets:
- CC Camp Road
- Mitchell Avenue
- Crestwood Drive
- North Crestwood Drive
- Woodmont Drive
- Early Lane
- Cinderella Lane
Restriping of these streets is planned for late May. While streets are being paved, residents should anticipate closures of one or both traffic lanes.
In the month ahead, Vulcan also plans to resurface internal roads within the City Cemetery and to freshly pave the new parking lot on North Cedar Avenue.
Due to longstanding safety concerns, the City has also requested that Vulcan Materials remove the mid-block pedestrian crossing on Broad Street between North Jefferson and North Washington Avenues.
Weather conditions, particularly rain, could interfere with resurfacing plans. In the event of adverse weather, some of the listed streets may not be resurfaced until this fall.
