The City of Cookeville is currently addressing a water main break on East Spring Street that occurred this morning. The burst main has caused a significant sinkhole along the roadway between Whitson Chapel Road and Watauga Road. Drivers in the area are advised to seek alternative routes.
City crews have been on-site since 7:00 a.m. and are actively working to repair the line. Water services in the affected area are temporarily unavailable while the repairs are underway. At this time, water main repairs are estimated to take until approximately 2 p.m. Workers will remain on-site until repairs are completed.
