The City of Cookeville continues to experience remarkable growth as shown by the surge in building permits issued over the past month. In October 2024, the City issued 106 building permits, marking the second-highest number of permits issued in a single month. This number is just one permit short of the City's all-time high of 107 permits set in January of this year. With an average of 62.7 permits issued each month in 2024, Cookeville is clearly seeing an upward trend in both residential and commercial development.
A significant portion of October's permits – 63 in total – were for the construction of new single-family and multi-family homes, accounting for a total investment of $19.4 million.
Of these building permits, 20 were for multi-family structures, each consisting of three separate units. Between the single and multi-family dwellings, more than 100 homes will be added to Cookeville from the October permits alone. These new private developments will provide an important boost to local housing, offering more options to meet the growing demand for housing in our city.
Alongside residential development, October’s permits also included the approval of two new commercial buildings, further underscoring the City's thriving economy and continued growth. These commercial projects not only add to Cookeville’s diverse economic base but also create new opportunities and services for the community.
The continued growth in building permits highlights Cookeville’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and dynamic community. With new homes and businesses rising across the city, Cookeville is positioning itself as a prime location for both newcomers and long-time residents looking to call this wonderful city home.
