The City of Cookeville reports an overnight closure is scheduled for East 10th Street on Sunday, August 25. This closure will temporarily shut down all lanes of traffic between the hours of 8 p.m. on August 25 and 7 a.m. on August 26.
This overnight closure is part of Phase II of the East 10th Street Widening Project. Throughout the night, five dedicated crews from Rogers Groups Inc. will work to complete seven street crossing for sewer and waterline installation. Since these crossings will require workers to cut through the pavement, the street will be impassable and closed to all vehicles.
Traffic barricades will block off East 10th Street between Fisk Road and Old Kentucky Road. A detour route will be marked with signage to guides drivers around the street closure.
Furthermore, all side streets intersecting this portion of East 10th Street will also be closed to traffic, except for residents and emergency vehicles. These streets include Bilbrey Avenue, Country Club Road, North Pickard Avenue, Shanks Avenue, Wall Avenue, and Wilson Avenue.
The City asks all drivers to use alternative routes when travelling through this area. As Wall Avenue and Country Club Road lack alternative access points, residential and emergency vehicles will be directed to use the following routes:
- Country Club Road residents will enter and exit by way of North Pickard Avenue.
- Wall Avenue North residents will enter and exit through Wall Avenue South.
All streets connecting to this section of East 10th Street will also be closed to all traffic, except for residents and emergency vehicles. These streets include Wilson Avenue, Bilbrey Avenue, Country Club Road, North Pickard Avenue, Shanks Avenue, and both sides of Wall Avenue.
The City appreciates the continued patience and support of the Cookeville community. For more updates from the City of Cookeville, visit the official City website at cookeville-tn.gov.
