The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) begins the scheduled resurfacing of North Willow Avenue this Sunday, August 4. The project will cover the section from West Broad Street to North 9th Street.
Weather permitting, the street resurfacing will take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on both Sunday and Monday evenings, August 4 and 5.
To complete the work efficiently while minimizing their effect on traffic, TDOT plans to close one direction of traffic at a time, starting with the northbound lane. This will close two lanes for resurfacing while leaving two lanes open to vehicles while also allowing TDOT to finish resurfacing in just two nights.
During lane closures, vehicles travelling in the same direction as the closed lanes will need to detour to North Cedar Avenue by way of West 7th Street and West Broad Street. Additionally, side streets that intersect North Willow Avenue will be closed one block prior to the work zone.
For questions about the upcoming closure, contact the Cookeville TDOT office at (931) 526-4522.
