Starting this week, the City of Cookeville will begin enforcing the no parking requirements along North Cedar Avenue.
The City recently removed all on-street parking along North Cedar Avenue between West Broad Street and West 2nd Street. The on-street parking has since been replaced by new bicycle lanes. For the safety of cyclists, the City plans to strictly enforce appropriate use of the bicycle lanes on North Cedar Avenue. Any vehicles found parked in the bicycle lanes will be ticketed.
The removal of on-street parking and installation of bicycle lanes were completed as part of Phase II of North Cedar Avenue Streetscape Project. The project also includes the addition of five new parking lots within the North Cedar area, three of which have already been created. The three current lots have added 89 new parking spaces to the neighborhood. That number will increase to approximately 110 after the final two lots are completed.
