[ARCHIVED] The Merry & Bright Tour of Lights: Your Guide to Festive Homes in Cookeville

Tour of Lights 2023

Hop in the car and see all the best Christmas lights in Cookeville with the Merry and Bright Tour of Lights!

The tour features the 20 homes entered in this year’s Merry and Bright Holiday Home Challenge. A free Tour of Lights map marks the location of each home. The back of each map includes a fun scavenger hunt for the whole family to enjoy!

“Merry and Bright has become one of my favorite events that we put on,” says Sally Herren, Recreation Programmer at Cookeville’s Leisure Services. “It’s become a part of my family’s holiday tradition. We grab some hot chocolate and the map of houses and hit the road! The work and dedication put into each display just blows me away!”

The Merry and Bright Holiday Home Challenge and Tour of Lights are hosted by Cookeville’s Leisure Services and Upper Cumberland Association of Realtors (UCRA). The collaboration aims to celebrate the beautiful holiday displays created by local homeowners and to encourage more homes to decorate.

“Back in the late 80’s the Holiday Lights contest was started by the local Realtor association. The memories of viewing these homes and neighborhoods decorated for Christmas was a highlight of the holidays,” explains Libby Capps with UCRA. “Years later, we joined the City of Cookeville Leisure Services to start the Merry & Bright. It has become a tradition again to see all the decorations and holiday spirit displayed by so many.”

The free Tour of Lights map will be available by Dec. 1. Maps will be available at Cookeville City Hall, the Leisure Services office at 10 E. Broad Street, or online at www.cookeville-tn.gov/ls.
