The City of Cookeville will be conducting a geotechnical subsurface investigation on Interstate Drive, between Starbucks and Smart Bank, on Monday, Aug. 25. This work is being done to determine the cause of the pavement settlement occurring in this area.
Work will begin Monday morning at 9 a.m. (after morning rush hour) and will potentially extend into Tuesday, Aug. 26. To minimize traffic impacts, only one lane of traffic will be closed at a time.
Drivers should anticipate temporary lane closures which will change throughout the day. Flagger will be on site to help navigate traffic through the work zone.
Once this investigation is complete, the City will use the results to design a permanent solution for this roadway issue. After this remediation and other future improvements along Interstate Drive are completed, the street segment will be repaved.
