In an effort to help residents avoid service interruptions, the City of Cookeville is now conducting automated courtesy calls to utility customers with past due charges. This new initiative is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to provide better service and timely reminders for customers who may be at risk of disconnection.
The new courtesy call system was implemented last Friday, June 20. Automated calls are being sent to customers with severely delinquent utility accounts who are at imminent risk of having their services disconnected. Any customer receiving a courtesy call should have already received a late notice by mail.
The courtesy call provides key information including the scheduled date and time for service disconnection and the phone number for the City of Cookeville’s Customer Service Department. Customers who receive a call are encouraged to make a payment as soon as possible to avoid service interruption.
These calls are strictly informational. They will NOT ask customers to provide payment over the phone. Instead, customers will be directed to use the City’s standard payment methods.
Payments can be made online through the City of Cookeville’s official website, in person at City Hall, or by phone at 931-286-7021. For those wishing to simplify future payments, automatic bank draft enrollment is available, with forms accessible both on the City’s website and at the Customer Service desk.
