The City of Cookeville issues permits for parades or street closures for events that will obstruct the public streets or rights of way per Municipal Code Title 16, Chapter 9 (PDF). An Application for Parade Street Closure (PDF) (including a map of the location or route) must be completed by the applicant and turned in to the City of Cookeville Police Department (1019 Neal St). After approval by the City of Cookeville Police Department and the City Manager, approved applications will forward to the City of Cookeville Tax Department for final processing. Before a permit can be issued, the applicant must provide the required certificate of insurance, $100 application fee, and a $250 refundable deposit to ensure that all refuse, litter, materials and equipment used in the activity are removed after the activity. After the event and verification by the City of Cookeville Police Department that all refuse, litter, materials and equipment used in the activity have been removed after the activity, a check will be issued for the refundable deposit (approximately two weeks after the event) and the applicant will be called to pick up the refund check.
