Beer Permit for On-Premise

On-Premise Beer Permits are issued primarily to restaurants that have a seating capacity of at least 40 seats at tables, or other certain businesses. An application for On-Premise Beer Permit must be completed in a persons name that will be responsible for the enforcement of Title 8 Chapter 4 of the Cookeville Municipal Code. There is a $250 non-refundable application fee and a yearly beer privilege tax of $100 due each January 1. At the time a new application is applied, the applicant will pay a prorated portion of the privilege tax based on the remaining months until the next tax payment date.

Beer Permit for Off-Premise

Off-Premise Beer Permits are issued to grocery, drug, convenience and tobacco stores. An application for Off-Premise Beer Permit must be completed in a persons name that will be responsible for the enforcement of Title 8 Chapter 4 of the Cookeville Municipal Code. There is a $250. non-refundable application fee and a yearly beer privilege tax of $100 due each January 1. At the time a new permit is applied for, the applicant will pay a prorated portion of the privilege tax based on the remaining months until the next tax payment date.

Special Event Beer Permit

Per Title 8, Chapter 4 of the Cookeville Municipal Code, a special event beer permit may be issued to non-profit organizations to serve beer on non-public property.

Special Event Alcoholic Beverage Permit

Per Title 8, Chapter 5 of the Cookeville Municipal Code, a special event alcoholic beverage permit may be issued to non-profit organizations to serve beer or other alcoholic beverages on authorized public property locations.

Liquor by the Drink

Title 8 Chapter 2 of the Cookeville Municipal Code allows on premise consumption of alcoholic beverages if approved by the State of Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission. To apply for a liquor license or if you have any questions call 615-741-1602. When a liquor license is issued by the State of Tennessee, an annual privilege tax is to be paid to the City of Cookeville.
