Customer Service
The City of Cookeville Customer Service/Billing Department is responsible for connection, disconnection and billing for utility services offered by the city. City owned utilities include electric, water, sewer and natural gas. We can normally provide same day service if you apply at the Municipal Building before 2:00 p.m. on the day service is requested. A copy of your lease is required from any person renting property.

Bank Draft
Want your utility bill automatically deducted on it's due date? Never have a late payment again! Download the form (PDF) and fill it out, then bring it to City Hall along with a voided check. Any payment refused by the financial institution as non payable will be assessed a return check charge, unless the return was due to bank error.

Other Offered Services
Budget Billing
Customers may request billings of their utility costs in eleven equal monthly installments during the year through the City Budget Billing Program. The billing for the twelfth month will be adjusted for any amount over or under the total due. Application for the Budget Billing Program must be made during the month of May each year.
Critical Care Program
When the City of Cookeville is made aware of a customer’s reliance upon an uninterrupted power supply for life support equipment, their account is coded a “Critical Care” customer and special efforts are made to maintain and/or restore utility service.
